Fundraising

12th St John’s Scout Group relies heavily on fundraising and donations in order to keep our costs low. Below is a list of all the fundraising we are involved in, could you assist us?

Gift Aid

gift aidUnder the rules set out by HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) we are able to claim Gift Aid on the subs that you pay each term.

Gift Aid allows UK charities to claim back the basic rate tax already paid on donations by the donor. This means we can claim back from the government on your behalf 25p for every £1 donated, boosting the value of the donation by a quarter.

Last year we managed to claim over £2,000 for the group in Gift Aid.

All we need is your permission to do this. This can be done either by using the OSM system or the physical form.

In Summer last year we sent out a link via OSM to the Gift Aid part of the system. If you have lost the link please email gsl.stjohns@gmail.com or if you would like to download the form please go to https://stjohnsscoutstw.org/useful-forms/

Group Online Store

Screen Shot 2019-02-28 at 12.04.01This group has its own online clothing store. This clothing is available for the young people and adults connected to the group. For every £1 spent, the Group receives 5p as part of its fundraising.

Last year the shop alone managed to raise over £80 for the group. For more information, how to buy it, when to wear it and many much more. please visit our website- https://stjohnsscoutstw.org/onlineshop/

Ink Cartridges

Did you know that over 65 million cartridges are sold in the UK every year and only 15% 67905291_2515611221832302_8806975722011754496_nare recycled. So 12th St John’s Scout Group have teamed up with www.therecyclingfactory.com.

From now, start saving your used printer ink cartridges and give them to your leaders. We shall then send them off to be recycled and will get a small donation back for every cartridge we send in.

So we get money towards the group for recycling old ink cartridges!

Sounds like one of the scout laws to me-
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
